Grey kitchen tiles have been a popular choice for modern kitchens, as they offer a sleek look that blends beautifully with a wide variety of other colours.

Since grey is a cool-toned colour, it contrasts really nicely with warm tones, such as wooden furniture or wicker lightshades. If you’re into the rustic cottage look, many of our grey kitchen tiles feature varied  tones for a handmade feel, which goes really well with this aesthetic!

Alternatively, grey tiles work really well with a pop of colour. This is a really good way to add a touch of brightness to the living space, and the grey tiles are sure to pair nicely with these pops of colour.

If you’re planning on removing your old kitchen tiles yourself to install new ones, there’s a few things you should consider before beginning. Before removing tiles, consider factors such as the current condition of your tiles, the condition of the substrate and whether they’re porcelain or ceramic, as well as the type of installation. Let’s take a look at what’s generally needed to remove your tiles depending on the type of tile installation you have:

Mosaic Tiles

Due to the fact that mosaic tiles are lightweight and small, mosaic kitchen tiles can be removed by using manual chisels.

Porcelain Tiles

Porcelain tiles are usually harder and denser - they’re more resistant to manual tools and often require heavy duty chisels or specialist tools such as electric grinders to remove them. Using the specialist tools can help speed up the process and protect the substrate behind them.

Natural Stone Tiles

Natural tiles, including marble, slate or granite, have often been installed with a thick motor or an epoxy-based adhesive, which resist cracking and chipping. This often means that you’ll require a diamond edge grinder to remove the tiles.

Ceramic Tiles

Ceramic tiles are one of the easiest tiles to remove. Despite them still being a dense and high-quality material for tile installations, they tend to be a bit more flexible when it comes to removing or resizing them. They can be removed by using manual tools such as chisels or light mechanical hammers.

Grey tiles are one of the easiest tile colours to clean. However, on kitchen splashbacks, they tend to accumulate a lot of grease and cooking residue from everyday splashes. It’s important to clean them, as their colour tones can be ruined, the surface of the tiles can be damaged and the grout can be stained over time.

With that being said, cleaning your tiles is really easy. Let’s take a look at some simple tips for your tiles to shine brightly again:

General Maintenance

For general maintenance, we recommend that you use a PH balanced cleaner. You want to avoid using any harsh cleaning detergents as this can break down and damage the grout more.

Simply take a microfibre cloth and wipe down in between the grout lines to ensure that all the residue is removed.

Another tip is to avoid waxy “shine” products as these can often attract dirt and grease a lot more. With textured tiles, residue can cling more onto the surface of the tiles, so you can use a soft bristle brush to remove any dust and dirt.

The price of the tiles definitely beat competitors and was a speedy delivery. However, the delivery was of poor quality, resulting in many broken tiles due to poor packaging on the pallete and poor delivery to the door. I've since written to customer service to remedy the issue, and even after several days there has been no reply. I'm not sure the savings is worth the hassle.

Very impressed with the service. We were left short of a specific tile when our bathroom supplier went bust. I found them on the Online Tile Shop's website, called them to check and received confirmation they had enough in stock. Delivery was quick and not expensive, and they kept in touch on the delivery progress. Would recommend.
